Kina Grannis is an American acoustic pop singer-songwriter and musician hailing from Mission Viejo, California. Born in 1985, she has been musically active for over 10 years, but got her break when she managed to win the Crash the Super Bowl contest in 2007, which earned her a deal with Interscope and a 60 second advert with Doritos during the Super Bowl.
The advert featured her winning track Message From Your Heart and was seen by 100million people, propelling her well into the YouTube charts. Though she later decided to leave Interscope in favour of working independently, Grannis became a popular musician with fans across the globe, something greatly helped by her massive YouTube presence.
