Levellers are an English folk punk band from Brighton, consisting of frontman Mark Chadwick, alongside Jeremy Cunningham, Charlie Heather, Simon Friend, Jonathan Sevink, and Matt Savage.
Formed in 1988, the band released their first EP, 'Carry Me', in 1989, paving the way for a series of successful records and singles. Levellers began to find major chart success having signed for China Records, hitting #14 in the UK Albums Chart with their second album, ‘Levelling the Land’. Their next album, ‘Levellers’, released in 1993, did even better, reaching #2, and ‘Zeitgeist’ in 1995 hit the #1 spot. The band released their latest album ‘Static on the Airwaves’ in 2008.
2017 saw the band releasing special editions of their albums 'Letters From The Underground' and 'Static On The Airwaves', and in 2018, they released another new album, 'We The Collective' on March 30, before touring with Ginger Wildheart in the summer.
Levellers have confirmed autumn UK dates for their 30th anniversary One Way Of Life tour, as well as a Teenage Cancer Trust show in March at the Royal Albert Hall. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.
Well, as always our evening with the levellers at Bedford corn exchange on 13th June 2013 was totally amazing, Gaz Brookfield was supporting which made the evening really bizarre for me, to see two great musicians/bands on one night. Mark managed to diffuse a fight in the audience, which I thought was great. The general atmosphere was warm, easy going, enjoyable and memorable for me, at only 4"8, I found it unusually comfortable, usually I'm on tip toes but the audience were kind enough to let me swerve in and out n about for the best spots! Got some brilliant pictures and footage of the evening, one bit I didn't like was the flashing lights during a track called Warning, it made my eyes water, as did the end of the whole set, as usual it's gutting having to go home after such a great night. It didn't matter tho as I saw them two weeks later, love all the tracks, this garden, riverflow and especially the recruiting sergeant. I came away from the concert at the end of the night as always hoping to see them again very soon. They're playing on my birthday in Northampton, I'm there for sure.
