Loudon Wainwright III is a folk singer from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Starting his music career in 1967, he began getting his name known playing in New York City folk clubs, which led to the release of his self-titled debut album in 1970. In 1972 he released his best known song, Dead Skunk (in the Middle of the Road). With a discography now totalling 26 studio albums, he won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album with his 20th LP, ‘High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project’, in 2010.
