Mark Knopfler is a Scottish singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, and all-round rock icon hailing from Glasgow. Born in 1949, he is best known as the co-founder and frontman of iconic rock outfit Dire Straits, which he started with his brother David Knopfler.
One of the all-time greatest guitarists and musicians the world has ever seen, he has sold over 120 million copies as a solo musician as well as with his world famous rock band, and picked up four Grammys, a Steiger Award, and a highly-coveted Edison Award along the way. Known for his impressive fingerstyle guitaring, Knopfler enjoyed great success with Dire Straits, with whom he performed with for their entire 18 year career, before they called time in 1997. Today, he continues to show off his prowess via an equally decorated solo career. 2012 saw Knopfler release his seventh solo album ‘Privateering’, and hold down a position inside the UK Top 10, proving he still has the knack being over 60. His next effort, an LP titled ‘Tracker’, hit shelves in 2015, followed by a soundtrack for the film Altamira the same year. Finally I saw Mark in Amsterdam on June 23rd

The first time I saw Mark was in Geleen the Netherlands at the Pinkpop festival, as the lead singer and frontman of the Dire Straits. I followed him musically all those years. As I married in 1989 we had a band with singers in the church and I had one request: Going Home from the Local Hero. That song became very important in my live in good and bad times. Last Sunday I saw Mark together with my 23 years old daughter (she did not know 1 song of Mark or the Dire Straits) but she was amazed and found the music fantastic. As he played the last song of the set...Going Home....I had tears in my eyes....Thank you Mark for touching my soul. I hope you will return to Europe once more.

Mark made me fall in love

First time some years ago when I discovered Sailing to Philadelphia, then in Italy close to my town Venice (Piazzola sul Brenta) then this may (22) in London O2 and then again July 18 in Piazzola sul Brenta again.
Now no other singers in my ears nor in my eyes for videos... London was amazing, moving atmosphere, lights and the songs he proposed with his band the girl included, made me fall in love with my man... wherever I go, Postcards from Paraguay and so on made me live in another world, going home was magic 20mile persons in perfect silence for him with heart beating. Everything was perfect and magic!

Bloody fantastic!

I first saw Mark in 1996 in Cardiff and he was great then, but this time he was better. The band who has been with him for a long time are a great bunch of musicians. The LG arena in Birmingham was a great venue and easy to get to. Song choices were fantastic, mixing brand new songs with the classics. This was a Christmas present from my fiancée and it was great value for me and her!!
