Matchbox Twenty are an American rock outfit who’ve become one of the country's top-selling bands of the past 20 years. Consisting of frontman Rob Thomas, guitarists Kyle Cook and Paul Doucette, bassist Brian Yale, and drummer Ryan MacMillan, each of the band’s three albums have gone platinum in Canada, Australia, and the United States - their debut ‘Yourself or Someone Like You’ has even hit diamond in the US, signalling over 10,000,000 sales.
The band, who’ve unsurprisingly picked up a handful of awards on their career journey, last released a proper album in 2002 (2007’s ‘Exile on Mainstream’ is a compilation (that still went 3x platinum in Australia!)), and have been spending the last 10 years working on their fourth, ‘North’, which went on to hit shelves in September 2012.
Confirming a return in 2017, Matchbox Twenty are set to travel across North America alongside Counting Crows, for the A Brief History of Everything Tour. They also play a handful of headline shows too. Check below to find tickets through Stereoboard!

The old superhero maxim states that with great power comes great responsibility. But it’s an adage that can often be retooled and applied to successful bands: “With great acclaim and sales comes great hatred and derision.” In the case of Matchbox Twenty that was certainly true after the group’s mega-selling debut album, ‘Yourself or Someone Like You’, helped forge their reputation as one of the most adored and loathed American rock outfits of the post-grunge era. With the record currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, a reappraisal is long overdue.
