Mercury Rev is an American alternative rock band from Buffalo, New York, consisting of Jonathan Donahue, Grasshopper, alongside Jeff Mercel, Carlos Anthony Molina, Dave Fridmann, and Jason Miranda.
Formed in 1989, the band released their debut album, 'Yerself Is Steam', in 1991, another three albums followed before the band released ‘Deserter's Songs’ in 1998, was a commercial success, reaching #27 in the UK Albums Chart. 2001's 'All Is Dream', did well reaching #11, as did ‘The Secret Migration’, which reached #16. The band have released a further two more albums, 2008’s ‘Snowflake Midnight’, and 2015’s 'The Light In You', which they toured the UK and Europe in support of in winter 2015. Mercury Rev will celebrate 20 years of 'Deserters' Songs' with intimate acoustic performances across Ireland in April, and throughout the UK in December too.
