Merthyr Rising is a music and arts festival based in Merthyr Tydfil.
Founded in 2013, the festival marks the anniversary of one of the first revolts by labour workers in 1831, known as the Merthyr Rising. Run as a non-profit organisation that aims to support music and creativity in the local community, the festival has seen performances from the likes of Dreadzone, The Alarm, Beans On Toast, Stereo MCs, Alabama 3, Cast and many more. Merthyr Rising will return to Cyfarthfa Castle on June 10-12, 2022, featuring performances from Basement Jaxx, Stiff Little Fingers, Ocean Colour Scene, Ferocious Dog and more.
