MGMT are an American psychedelic rock outfit hailing from Middletown, Connecticut, that formed back in 2004. Consisting of core members Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden, who were joined by live band Matthew Asti, James Richardson and Will Berman following the release of their debut album 'Oracular Spectacular' in 2007, they've gone on to win awards and perform across the globe.
That debut managed to hit #38 in the US, but achieved a much higher finish of #8 here in the UK, where it's gone on to become ranked as platinum. Their 2010 sophomore album 'Congratulations' saw them reach #2 in the US, their first Top 10 album there, while it maintained their UK chart success by reaching #4 here. August 2013 saw their eponymous third record, which they toured across the UK.
In February 2018, the band released their latest album, 'Little Dark Age', and supported it with UK shows and a tour of North America in spring. Later in the year they'll headline at Somserset House's Summer Series, and also co-headline a couple of shows with Franz Ferdinand in Australia, before a UK/European tour in December. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
MGMT got their set just right in my opinion. A perfect balance of older and newer material, as well as a generous helping of music from the latest album. The only criticism I have is that they didnt seem to be enjoying themselves on stage. The music was fantastic but they just seem to stand there looking...well... a bit bored. The atmosphere felt a bit 'flat' sometimes and the crowd were restless.

MGMT’s Kids is legitimately one of the most accomplished, colourful, lavish electro-pop anthems of the past 20 years. Reinventing the fluro themes of their hero and musical forefather David Bowie, the duo earned stratospheric success with the single and their debut LP, ‘Oracular Spectacular’, in 2007.
