Michael Kiwanuka is a singer-songwriter and musician from London.
He originally began his music career as a session guitarist—working with artists such as Chipmunk and Bashy—before stepping in front of the mic himself, releasing his debut EPs ‘Tell Me a Tale’ and ‘I'm Getting Ready’ in 2011. After winning BBC Sound of 2012, he went on to drop his Mercury Prize-nominated debut album, ‘Home Again’, the same year. His second LP, 2016's 'Love and Hate', also received a Mercury Prize nomination, with Kiwanuka finally winning the honour for his latest release, 2019's 'Kiwanuka'. He has also received a Grammy nod, as well as five BRIT Award nominations. Michael Kiwanuka will headline Halifax's Live At The Piece Hall concert series in June 2024.
