Omar Souleyman is a singer and farmer from Tell Tamer, Syria.
He began his career as a wedding singer in 1994, working with a number of musicians with whom he still performs. Over the years, he is said to have recorded around five hundred studio and live albums under his name, as many of the early releases were recordings from the weddings and presented to the married couple. Live wise, he has appeared at festivals such as Glastonbury, Way Out West, Chaos in Tejas, Bonnaroo, Roskilde, Pukkelpop, Mostly Jazz, Funk and Soul Festival, Electric Picnic and many more. His last album was 2017's 'to Syria, With Love'. Omar Souleyman will play tour dates in London and Cambridge, as well as Europe, in February 2020.
