Orbital are a British electronic dance duo from Sevenoaks, Kent, featuring brother Phil and Paul Hartnoll. They have been at the forefront of the techno and rave scene since the early 90s, and are arguably one of the most successful acts in the genre.
Formed in 1989, they released their self-titled debut album, in 1991, which was followed by an untitled release in 1993, ‘Snivilisation’, in 1994, ‘In Sides’, in 1996, ‘The Middle of Nowhere’, in 1999, ‘The Altogether’, in 2001 and a second untitled release in 2004, before the duo split. They reformed for The Big Chill Festival in 2009 and released their last album, ‘Wonky’, in 2012, before splitting again. They returned again in 2017.
The duo have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK. Their headline performance at Glastonbury in 1994 was one of the defining moments of their pair’s career. They also performed at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Orbital have now confirmed more UK shows for summer 2018, before some autumn gigs in Europe. They'll then close 2018 with a trio of US shows and appearances in London, Bristol, Sheffield, Cambridge and Manchester in December. Orbital also head to Australia in February 2019, too.
