Initially living in Brooklyn, guitarist/vocalist Brady Keehn and drummer/vocalist Melissa Scaduto moved to Los Angeles on a whim when the financial strain of living in New York became too much. Soon, the two duo met bassist Kenny Elkin and guitarist/keyboardist Eddie Wuebben, and together as Sextile they meld surf punk, early industrial, ambient and post-punk.
The name Sextile comes from classical astrology - when powers cooperate smoothly, encouraging and inspiring one another. So, both sides of the sextile gain by the aspect between them. This mutual stimulation is usually very creative, on a daily basis. The band often explore the decade-long link between astrology and music.
Their debut record, 'A Thousand Hands', was released in 2015, and was inspired by a form of frightening & exhilarating spirit channeling that Wuebben was experimenting with one night. Whilst doing open eye meditation he felt thousands of hands reaching down towards him, and the experience left such an impression on the band, it became the first track on the album as well the album title.
Their sophomore record, 'Albeit Living' was released in July 2017, accompanied by their first ever trip to Europe and the UK. Sextile retunr to the UK to play September shows in 2018. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
