Shawn Colvin is an American musician and singer songwriter from Illinois. While Colvin has been a solo recording artist for nearly 30 years, she is perhaps best known for her 1997 Grammy-winning song, Sunny Came Home.
She played in a number of different bands during her youth, and participated in off-broadway shows too. In 1987, she got her "big break" when producer Steve Addabbo hired her to sing backup vocals on the song Luka by Suzanne Vega. After touring with Vega, Colvin signed to Columbia Records and released her debut album, 'Steady On', with them in 1989, which went on to win a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Her second album did well too, with 'Fat City' in 1992 receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Recording, and her song I Don't Know Why was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Female Pop Vocal category. She released more albums over the years, including a collaboration with Steve Earle in 2016, and, most recently, 2018's 'The Starlighter'. Shawn Colvin has announced UK shows for September 2023.
