Shuggie Otis is an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, from Los Angeles, but he is primarily known for his guitar skills.
The son of rhythm and blues legend Johnny Otis, and begun playing guitar when he was two, and performing professionally with his father’s band by the age of 12. He has released three solo albums, as well as many collaborations and compilations. The last being, ‘Inspiration Information’ in 1974, which was re-released in 2013, with added material, and which gained a cult following in the 1990’s, with the emergence of rare groove and acid jazz, and was praised by the likes of Prince and Lenny Kravitz.
