Slayer are an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, consisting of vocalist and bassist Tom Araya, guitarist Kerry King, second guitarist Gary Holt, and drummer Paul Bostaph.

Formed in 1981 by axemen King and the late Jeff Hanneman, Slayer are credited as one of the ‘Big Four’ thrash acts alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. They boast a heavy discography that spans 12 studio albums, the latest being 2015's 'Repentless', and have one of the most hardcore fan bases in music.

Slayer have, without a doubt, one of the strongest legacies in rock and metal music, with people like Dave Grohl hailing them as one of his biggest influences, and countless critics naming them as the most important group in their genre. Tracks like Raining Blood, South Of Heaven, and Angel Of Death continue to pack the same punch today that they did at the time of release.

After more than three decades at the forefront of thrash metal, the band announced their retirement and farewell dates in 2018, before playing what was billed as their final shows in 2019.
