Soft Cell are a synth-pop duo from Leeds.

The band was formed by vocalist Marc Almond and multi-instrumentalist David Ball in Leeds in the late 1970s, rising to prominence in the early ‘80s with their version of Gloria Jones' Tainted Love. The song hit the #1 spot in 17 countries, and their debut album, 1981's ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret’ was certified platinum in the UK and Canada.

The duo split in 1984, reforming in 2001 to record their fifth album, ‘Cruelty Without Beauty’, which was released the following year. Their discography now holds a total of six studio records to date, with the most recent being 'Happiness Not Included' in 2022.

Soft Cell will headline a show as part of the Nocturne Live concert series in June 2024. Catch them live by checking tour dates and ticket details on Stereoboard.
