Texas is a Scottish pop rock band from Glasgow, featuring Sharleen Spiteri, Ally McErlaine, Johnny McElhone, Eddie Campbell, Tony McGovern, Michael Bannister and Ross McFarlane, best known for tracks such as Say What You Want and Black Eyed Boy.
Formed in 1986, they released their debut album, ‘Southside’, in 1989, which hit #3 in the UK Albums Chart. The band’s second album, ‘Mothers Heaven’, came out in 1991, followed by ‘Ricks Road’, in 1993, but it was their third release, ‘White on Blonde’, which came in 1997, that gave the band their biggest success, reaching #1 in the chart. ‘The Hush’ was released in 1999, ‘Careful What You Wish For’, in 2003, and ‘Red Book’ in 2005, before the band went on hiatus. They returned in 2013, with ‘The Conversation’, which saw them shoot straight back into the Top 5. The band released their latest album, ‘Jump on Board’, in April 2017.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK. In spring 2015, the band embarked on a UK tour of low-key venues, dubbed 'An Intimate Evening with Texas', in celebration of their 25th anniversary. They then played
Texas will play Glasgow's Kelvingrove Bandstand as part of the venue's Summer Nights series, as well as outdoor summer shows at Newmarket Racecourse and Doncaster Racecourse, before heading out on a tour of the UK and Ireland in autumn in support of ‘Jump On Board’. Later in the year then, they'll play as part of the inaugural Skyline Series in Bristol and Birmingham, preceded by a Yorkshire coast show at Scarborough Open Air Theatre.
