The Jayhawks are an American alternative country band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, consisting of frontmen Gary Louis, alongside bassist Marc Perlman, keyboard-player Karen Grotberg and drummer Tim O’Reagan.

Formed in 1985, the band released their debut self-titled album in 1986, which was followed by ‘Blue Earth’ in 1989, ‘Hollywood Town Hall’ in1992, ‘Tomorrow the Green Grass’ 1995, ‘Sound of Lies’ 1997, ‘Smile’, in 2000, and ‘Rainy Day Music’ in 2003, before the band went on hiatus in 2005. They returned again in 2009, and released ‘Mockingbird Time’ in 2011. They are expected to release a new album in 2016, which is produced by Peter Buck.
