The Lonely Island are an American comedy trio from California, made up of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, who met in junior high and formed the band in 2001.
After several unsuccessful opportunities with Comedy Central and Fox, Jimmy Fallon recommended them to write for Saturday Night live in 2005, where their career took off. Their second sketch to air, Lazy Sunday, became an internet sensation, the first of many viral videos they produced while at SNL. More tracks came, including I'm On A Boat, Motherlover, Dick In A Box, Jizz In My pants, I Just Had Sex, Jack Sparrow and YOLO. Their work was collated into three studio albums: 'Incredibad' in 2009, 'Turtleneck & Chain' in 2011, and 'The Wack Album' in 2013. They've also starred and written in two feature length films, Hot Rod in 2007 and 2016's Popstar: Never Stop Stopping. The Lonely Island tour the US in summer 2019.
