Renowned as one of the greatest comedy films of all time, The classic 1964 Pink Panther film stars Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau, who is attempting to catch a notorious jewel thief on the hunt for the priceless Pink Panther diamond.
Directed by Blake Edwards, The Pink Panther also stars David Niven, Robert Wagner, Capucine, and Claudia Cardinale.
The score, composed by Henry Mancini, recently received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award. Mancini received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 1995, with The Pink Panther score remaining one of his most celebrated works. It was nominated for an Academy Award in 1965, led by the instantly recognisable tenor saxophone of Plas Johnson. Released as a single in 1964, the song went on to reach the top 10 on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.
Conducted by Elliot Davies, the Senble Concert Orchestra will perform the score live at the Royal Festival Hall in July 2018, accompanying the film screening live for the first time in all its jazz grandeur.
