The Waterboys are a Scottish folk rock band from Edinburgh, fronted by founding member Mike Scott, alongside currently Steve Wickham, Ralph Salmins and Paul Brown. They are best known for the Top Three track, The Whole of the Moon.
Formed in 1983, the band released their self-titled album in 1983, and broke into the Top 40 with their third release, ‘This Is the Sea’, in 1985. Their fourth album, ‘Fisherman's Blues’, released in 1988, hit #13 in the UK Albums Chart, but it was their next two releases, ‘Room to Roam’, in 1990 and ‘Dream Harder’ in 1993, which proved to be their biggest hits, peaking at #5. The band released their eleventh album, ‘Modern Blues’, in 2015, and a deluxe version of 'Out of All This Blue' in 2017.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK, including in late 2013 they toured the UK celebrating 25 years since the release of ‘Fisherman’s Blues’.
The Waterboys are set to tour the UK throughout April and May of 2018. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
We saw the Waterboys this week in Birmingham and, as usual, they were lively, entertaining, and full of buzz. They had everybody's feet tapping and dancing. A night to remember, humming the songs the next day as the tunes are so memorable and haunting. Will definitely go to their next Midlands gig and will take some other family members who also like the music as we always play their cd at parties etc.
