Wales Goes Pop is a three-day all-ages indie pop festival that takes place at arts venue The Gate, Cardiff.
The first event took place in 2013 and was headlined by The Primitives, as well as performances from the likes of Allo Darlin, Josie Long, Lets Wrestle, The Wave Pictures, Joanna Gruesome and more. 2014 saw performances from Helen Love, The Wedding Present, Withered Hand, Laetitia Sadier, Sweet Baboo, The School and more. 2015 was headlined by Emmy The Great, alongside the likes of The Pooh Sticks, The Lovely Eggs, Ballboy and PINS. The festival returned in 2016 with headliners Los Campesinos, alongside This Is The Kit, The Spook School, Gwenno, BMX Bandits, Girls Names, Ultimate Painting, Younghusband, and a special celebration of the 20th anniversary of Fortuna Pop, and in 2017, we saw Honeyblood, Joanna Gruesome, Hooton Tennis Club, Fear of Me and Girl Ray.
In 2018, the festival saw Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Shonen Knife and Sweet Baboo, Kero Kero Bonito, Brix & The Extricated, Goat Girl, Drahla, Peaness, Axolotes Mexicanos, Jemma Roper, She Makes War, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Adwaith and more.
