White Lies are an English post-punk band from Ealing, London, consisting of frontman Harry McVeigh, bassist Charles Cave, and drummer Jack Lawrence-Brown.

Formed in 2007, under the name Fear of Flying, the band signed with Friction Records, and were nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2009 and the BRITs Critics' Choice Award. They released their debut album, 'To Lose My Life...', in 2009, which hit #1 in the UK Album Chart. ‘Ritual’ followed in 2011, hitting #3 in the chart and ‘Big TV’ was released in 2013, reaching #4. The band put out their fourth LP, ‘Friends’, in October 2016 and are set to follow it up with 'Five' in February 2019.

The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK, as well as having played festivals such as Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury, and Isle of Wight, supported bands such as the Maccabees, Jamie T, Laura Marling and Coldplay, and performing as part of BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend and the 2009 NME Awards Tour.

White Lies supported their new record with a UK and Ireland tour in February 2019. They have also lined up shows across Europe and the US in the spring, before celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album, 'To Lose My Life', with two shows in London this winter. Their fifth album continues the recent trend of adopting the decade’s glitzier keyboards, with fewer danceable moments than before. It also also does little to alleviate accusations of unoriginality, this time even down to the album’s title: 'Five'.
