Whoopi Goldberg, real name Caryn Johnson, is an American actress, comedian and TV personality, from Manhattan, New York.
Starting her career in 1982, she has appeared in numerous films including her breakthrough in ‘The Colour Purple’, ‘Ghost’ for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress , ‘Jumpin' Jack Flash’, ‘Sister Act’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Girl, Interrupted’ and ‘Rat Race’. She starred in her own show, ‘The Whoopi Goldberg Show’ in the 1990s, and started co-hosting ‘The View’ in 2007. She has also appeared on stage in shows such as ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ and ‘Sister Act’. Whoopi Goldberg has lined up two UK shows for later this year in Leeds and London.
