Within Temptation are a Dutch metal outfit hailing from Waddinxveen. They describe their sound as ‘symphonic metal’, and are often labelled as gothic rock - though singer Sharon den Adel has stated that they’re "no gothic band"! Formed in 1996, den Adel is joined by guitarists Ruud Jolie, Stefan Helleblad, and Robert Westerholt, bassist Jeroen van Veen, drummer Mike Coolen, and keyboard player Martijn Spierenburg.

Releasing their debut album ‘Enter’ in 1997, they began making a name for themselves across Holland. Their next album saw them hitting #3 in their homeland, and breaking into charts across the world, paving the way for a successful career in music - their 2011 record ‘The Unforgiving’ hit #23 here in the UK. They toured their sixth record, 'Hydra' in January 2014, but have been quiet since then.
