Mona (Band Of The Week)

Our Band Of The Week, is a feature designed to promote the wonderful unsigned and indie label talent on offer in the UK right now. This week however Stereoboard crosses the pond to highlight the musical talent of Nashville based four piece Mona.

So far Mona have caused quite a stir in the UK, they have been featured by other music news outlets, reaching number 1 in the buzz chart and have featured in the top 50 bands of 2010, this is before the group have even released a song.

ImageIn today’s world of MySpace, YouTube and Facebook, most bands have demos and songs up on the internet for months, sometimes years before they find a fan base. However Mona have had over 180,000 profile views before even posting up a single note. These facts tell you a little about the interest in this group.

Mona’s decision to not post any songs was not due to the fact they were lacking material, the group instead decided to hone their craft. Mona also look to follow The Beatles decision to cut their teeth in Hamburg as the group plan to play a set there, before the UK at the end of September.

Mona’s debut single, Listen To Your Love, will be released on September the 13th. The group are releasing the single through their own label, Zion Noiz, however I am sure a major label will soon snap this group up, such has been the buzz and excitement surrounding them at such an early stage in their careers.

Listen To Your Love combines excellent lyrics, gritty guitar riffs, pounding drums and emotive vocals, originally recorded live in a basement; the track has a sincerity and classic authenticity. A sound that I am sure we will hear much more as this alternative rock group continue to grow and grow.

Mona are Nick Brown (Vocals, Guitar, Keyboard), Vince Gard (Drums), Zach Lindsey (Bass) and Jordan Young (Guitar).
