Jessie J: “It’s Harder For Men To Be Bisexual”

Friday, 13 May 2011 Written by James Conlon

Jessie J has spoken frankly about her sexuality in a surprisingly open interview with British newspaper The Telegraph. Speaking to the paper, the ‘Do It Like A Dude’ star discussed her own thoughts on sexuality, before going on to assert that she believes bisexual men have it a lot harder than women of the same orientation.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Jessie J claimed that today’s youth are more “easy going” about sexuality that previous generations. She said: "I've been with guys and I’ve been with girls. And I kind of think it’s about the person not the genitals. A lot of people are like, 'Oh, she doesn’t know what she is'. But I definitely think my generation is more easy going about it."

She continued: "I think it's harder for boys [to be bisexual]. I think if a girl is bi there's more acceptance because guys like it. Whereas boys get more stereotyped. And girls are a bit like, 'Oooh my boyfriend’s bisexual'. But it is what it is. That’s the message I want my album to bring - to just be true to yourself."

However, it would appear that Jessie J’s liberal attitude doesn’t stretch as far as all-out headonism. The singer recently criticised a Dublin audience of students for being too drunk and disorderly while she was performing. Speaking on Twitter, the singer asserted: “...it upset me to see so many young people so not with it.”
