New Rebecca Black Already Subject to Overdose Hoax and YouTube Trolls

America has churned another Rebecca Black-esque child star – and has become an instant target for internet trolls on YouTube.

Popular American TV show ‘Good Morning America’ recently held a competition where they challenged one young girl to become a viral, overnight hit – within one week. Hundreds of young girls auditioned for the role in Los Angeles, and Ark Music Factory, the label who made Black famous with her frighteningly bad ‘Friday’, chose 14-year old Lexi St.George, who apparently had a ‘star factor’.

So, label chief Patrice Wilson and Lexi quickly (you can tell) put together another three minute torture music video and threw it up onto YouTube. Boasting lyrics such as ‘Gonna push send and text all my friends’, the track was destined for a marmite status where the song will be adored by hundreds of pre-pubescent girls, and hated by pretty much everyone else. Then, the trolls struck.

With the video only posted five days ago, it was doing alright - considering it had 108,000 views and over 1000 likes. But within a day or two of becoming a target from the notorious trolls of 4chan, the like bar quickly faded to red with 1700 dislikes.

But that’s not the worst. Fans of the child star have now been convinced that she has in fact died of a CRACK overdose. That’s right, 14-year old Lexi St George, the next Rebecca black, has now been subjected to a hoax death within five days of fame. If you visit the video, the comments are literally littered with hundreds or ‘RIPs’, and messages about how the music industry is ‘f*cked up’.

No statement or anything of the sort has been posted by Lexi or any of the label managers (not to mention Good Morning, America), but it isn’t clear whether there will be any response to the outrageous claims.

Patrice has spoken out about how he doesn’t want her to be compared with Rebecca Black (I’d rather the OD than listen to RB), but it is an inevitable comparison which I’m sure will be made by millions online as she continues to go viral this week.

“I don’t want people comparing and saying she’s the next Rebecca Black, with this project, it’s a bit of a different thing. We wanted to make something everybody could like, whether the older or younger generation…”

“I don’t anticipate that people are going to dislike this video. I hope people give her a chance and not say I don’t like ark music factory so I don’t like this song.”

Looks like people didn't give her a chance.
