ex-QOTSA Bassist Nick Oliveri Arrested... By S.W.A.T Team

Ex-Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri was arrested in true rock and roll fashion today... after the star was taken away by a S.W.A.T team following a lengthy stand-off involving the musician’s girlfriend.

Following a dispute between the two during the previous day, the girlfriend had returned to collect her stuff as they had seemingly split. But after a fit of rage and a second argument, the bass player went crazy, refusing to let his missus leave the house – even after police had been called to the scene by neighbours.

Locking the doors and windows, Oliveri decided it was best the police didn’t enter his home, forcing the feds to call for back-up – in the form of a highly trained S.W.A.T team. You’d think that the skilled and armed forces would have been enough to scare out Oliveri, now a member of stoner-rock band Kyuss, but it still took two hours for the crazed Nick to surrender his girlfriend, and another two hours on top of that for him to give himself up. Inside the artist’s home was a fully-loaded high strength gun – whether this was actually used in the hostage situation, No One Knows.

Oliveri was arrested at the scene and taken in to the station, and charged with domestic violence, but quickly saw release as he fronted the $100,000 bail that was required. For the police’s sake, let’s hope he doesn’t meet up with Coheed and Cambria bassist Mic Todd for a jam – the star was arrested on the weekend for ARMED ROBBERY of addictive prescription drug Oxycontin from a pharmacy in Massachusetts, minutes BEFORE a gig with Coheed. Police managed to find him in his getaway taxi near to the venue. He was subsequently kicked off the rest of the CAC tour.

What happened to the days of the funky bass players, eh?
