Download Festival Plans Tenth Birthday Celebrations - Early Bird Tickets On Sale Friday

Download and Sonisphere, the UK’s two biggest metal-orientated festivals of the year, have announced that they will both be returning in 2012, with Download revealing its plans to hold a huge celebration for its 10th birthday.

Download Festival seems the place to be in June 2012, with hype around the line-up and celebrations already starting in the run up to the festival’s 10th birthday party. As usual, Download will be held in Donington Park, with the dates set for 8th-10th of June. A statement on the Download website also excitedly says “we’ll be pulling out all the stops to put on our biggest ever Download to date.” Early bird tickets go on sale this Friday at 5pm, at the same price as 2011.

The official Download Twitter page has been going crazy today and yesterday, posting a Tweet saying “Got some Download news to tell you about in a couple of hours...” and “That news will be landing shortly, hold on to your hats people...”. Then earlier today, the page revealed that the festival’s organisers may have already booked the headliners for next year’s event... paving the way for Van Halen to take one of the top-spots. Of course, at this point it’s just speculation, and rumours are flying around in every direction. To keep up-to-date on what’s really going on with Download Festival 2012, check Stereoboard.com

Sonisphere also revealed today that it would be remaining in Knebworth for next year’s festival, set for 6th-8th July next year. Tickets for both Sonisphere went on sale this morning.
