James Marriott has shared plans for his third album.
'Warning Signs', the follow-up to last year's UK chart-topping 'Don't Tell The Dog', is set to arrive on January 15 via AWAL. Written and recorded during a particularly busy period, the album was inspired by artists such as Magdalena Bay, Slayyyter, Charli XCX and Dua Lipa, with the Brighton YouTuber-turned-musician describing his sound as "anti-pop", an outsider's take on anthemic pop.
The record will include his recent single Burn Down The Disco, but not his earlier track California Rain, despite the hazard-style weather symbols used in its video inspiring the album's concept. Marriott said:
"This album, it’s all ‘moment-based’ for me. For a song to latch into my head, there has to be a moment where I think, ‘Oh yeah, this is amazing.’ I can pick out something in every track on the record that gives me that feeling."
Marriott announced the album on stage during his sold-out show at London's O2 Academy Brixton last night (September 17), his biggest headline performance yet. Next up, he'll play shows across Australia in October. Tickets are on sale now.
