The Black Keys Blame Nickelback For Death Of Rock N Roll

Ohio-based rock n’ roll duo The Black Keys think they know what’s stopping their genre earning commercial success nowadays – Nickelback.

Band-member Patrick Carney is a massive fan of rock (as you’d imagine), but is unhappy at the fact that it’s straying from limelight in the popular music scene – saying that ‘rock n’ roll is dying’. Although the band may be getting a little more attention over here in the UK, they’re not happy and they’ve put their finger on who they think killed rock – and its Canadian rockers Nickelback.

Carney told the Rolling Stone: “Rock and roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world. So they became OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be shit – therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world.

“Fuck that. Rock and roll is the music I feel the most passionately about, and I don’t like to see it ruined and spoon-fed down our throats in this watered-down, post-grunge crap, horrendous shit.”

Personally, I am not a fan of Nickelback – but what do you think of Carney’s comments? Let us know in the comments section below.
