The Kills Partner With Samantha Morton For New Video 'The Last Goodbye' - Watch Now

The Kills - Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart - will celebrate 10 amazing years with release of new single ‘The Last Goodbye’ on 13th February 2012. They also première the video for the track today with The Nowness.

Directed by the Oscar nominated actres Samantha Morton, acclaimed for her directorial feature debut ‘The Unloved’, this is her very first music video. Shot in monochrome on crisp, silvery 35mm, the video reflects the simplicity of the track, with an old-school photo booth providing an intimate backdrop for Mosshart's intense and heart-warming opening performance followed by a series of touching to-camera poses reflecting the musicians’ long-standing friendship.

Talking about the filming of the new video, Alison Mosshart commented: "It was an honor to work with Samantha Morton on this Casablanca-esque, silent-film-esque, Americana photobooth Woolworth's hay day period piece of surrealism/ realism/ story time tell-tale-ism, black and white 35 mm film, washed in strange light, over this love hate tune, heartbreak song, life-goes-on lullaby, The Last Goodbye. It's a doorway into the future of the fatal past-tense. Get it?"

The Kills: The Last Goodbye on Nowness.com. Samanthan Morton revealed: “I love the fact that when you used to go to a photo booth, you used to have wait sometimes a good twenty minutes. It could be 8 minutes, 9 minutes. Sometimes, I remember, if they were really crap, you'd have to wait forever and you'd go off for a cup of tea and you'd come back to get your passport pictures and they were there. Also, it was quite expensive when we were young. It was like a real treat but now, it's still expensive but you just get these crap images of yourself. They're just horrible and they won't last in the same way. So in a way a think the song was incredibly nostalgic and I think made me feel nostalgic.”

‘The Last Goodbye’ is the fourth single to come from the duo’s critically-acclaimed fourth LP ‘Blood Pressures’. The single will be released as an exclusive limited edition 7” picture disk via The Kills webstore www.thekills.tv, and then will also be available on 10” / Digital Download through general release.
