Whitney Houston's Death Caused By Prescription Drug Overdose, According To New Reports

Whitney Houston’s tragic death on Saturday night may have been attributed to a prescription drug overdose if reports from ‘family sources’ are to be believed this morning.

We reported Houston’s death on Saturday night as it happened, but at the time, no cause of death had been given – though many believed she may have drowned after her body was found in a bathtub. But, gossip site TMZ is now reporting that ‘family sources’ say Houston died after ingesting a large number of prescription drugs, including Xanax among others, mixed with alcohol.

TMZ also wrote that “Coroner's officials informed the family there was not enough water in Whitney's lungs to lead to the conclusion that she drowned,” and added that their sources say Whitney may have died before her ‘head became submerged’. Foul play is also said to have been ruled out, meaning the star’s body can be flown back Atlanta so her family can arrange a funeral.

The new reports also claim that it was actually Mary Jones, Whitney’s aunt, who found her in the bathtub – she had apparently left their suite for half an hour after laying the star’s dress out on the bed, and returned to find Houston unconscious - and started attempting to resuscitate her.
