Electronic indie-pop outfit Hot Chip have told of their unhappiness with how 'conservative' today's music scene has become – and used Tulisa Contostavlos (a.k.a 'the lady from N-Dubz') as an example.
The London-based outfit have complained that the music that comes out nowadays has been mixed, mastered, and messed-with so much that the 'flaws that make everything really loveable' are no longer present – something which Hot Chip's Joe Goddard isn't at all happy about.
Goddard told The Guardian: “They take out all the flaws that make everything really loveable for me. Pop music's become quite conservative in a lot of ways. There's quite a lot of cynicism now about how to make pop records and what the point of it is.”
He continued: “I saw the lady from N-Dubz on a chatshow and they were asking how she felt about the band splitting up. She just talked about having to pay her mortgage as being the main issue.”
If you're a fan of Hot Chip and prefer their less 'conservative' sound, make sure you don't miss them on their up and coming UK tour, which kicks off on June 10th in Sheffield. Check the dates and details below to grab tickets.
