Stereoboard Previews Swedish House Mafia At The Milton Keynes Bowl

With less than a month to go until the historic Milton Keynes Bowl gets taken over by arguably the greatest disc jockeys in the industry at the moment, fans are beginning to titillate and prepare for their body to horripilate as they indulge in the hand raising moments underneath the lasers.

Being given the honour, prestige and permission to be the first ever electronic artists to headline the Bowl, Swedish House Mafia (SHM) are looking to make history this year in front of a crowd 65,000 strong.

In previous years, the Milton Keynes Bowl (MKB), aka the National Bowl, has seen the likes of Michael Jackson, AC/DC, Linkin Park and Jay-Z, Metallica, Queen, Take That, Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Ozzie Osbourne, Blue and Oasis take to the stage – proving the point that this is a venue for music royalty.

The MKB takes its name quite obviously from the bowl-like slant that encompasses the venue. Whether stood at the front or sat from the back, everyone of the 65,000 revellers will be amazed by the mesmerising views of the lighting and theatre that is performed by the SHM; of course not forgetting the incredible house music.

Although there is no official word from the National Bowl itself, internet rumours have circulated that the permanent stage that has been sat at the grounds since 1992 was ripped down in March 2012 to prepare for a brand new state of the art main stage. If this is truly the case, electronic aficionados are in for more than a treat, more like an orgy of theatre that will spellbound them as they break out to the beats and drops.

Accompanying the SHM at the MKB are Madeon, Alesso, Pete Tong, Calvin Harris and special guest – Example.

Example was the last named added to the already enticing list, and in true 21st Century style, the SHM built-up the tension to who would be the special guest through Twitter and Facebook before actually sending the artist a request via the social networking sites to play at the Bowl.

The SHM twitter account posted: “So we wanted a proper invitation. So one has been made and it shall be placed on Facebook this morning.”

Then later that day, they posted another stating: “Done, Invite posted on FB. We wait......”

Example’s retort was of course yes, and whether he knew nothing about this invite before is questionable, nonetheless, it was an excellent PR stunt that has kept fans tweeting their excitement for the gig ever since.

On June 14th, one month before the SHM are due at the Bowl, fans were tweeting; “30 days and counting until I am raving with the SHM at the MKB.” Others wrote: “4 weeks is too long!!! Why can’t it be tomorrow? Tis going to be the event of the summer.”

There are hundreds more like this, and the build up for the one-off event has been intensifying ever since the announcement last year.

With the exception to Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Hackney (which is likely to be a quick 30 minute set), the SHM have made themselves exempt from all English festivals this year, with only solo performances being booked from the disc jockeys that comprise the Mafia – Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello and Axwell.

There are still a few tickets left, but expect them sell out way before the gig starts on July 14th at 2.00pm. Click Here to Compare & Buy Swedish House Mafia Tickets.
