Swedish House Mafia have returned with a new single, Happiness Is So Sad, featuring Lykke Li.
Produced by the electronic supergroup alongside PARISI and Fred Again.., and recorded in Stockholm, with Max Martin and Oscar Holter earning songwriting credits, the dance-pop track marks the first collaboration between the two Swedish music stars, pairing the trio's anthemic electronic production with the singer's introspective, atmospheric vocals.
For Lykke Li, the track marks her first new music since her sixth album, 'The Afterparty', released in May. It follows her appearance at Coachella in California in April, a headline show at London's KOKO and a performance at the Odeion of Herodes Atticus in Greece. She'll continue her run of summer dates with a set at Way Out West Festival in Sweden on August 14.
For Swedish House Mafia, the release arrives amid their residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza, where it has become a summer highlight. Most recently, the group's Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso played the track at Tomorrowland festival in Belgium earlier this month.
The trio, completed by Axwell, will play their biggest shows to date at Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium on August 28 and 29. They'll also appear at Portola Festival in San Francisco in September and Head Trip Festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California in October.
They released their most recent studio album, their debut, 'Paradise Again', in 2022, followed by a live edition in 2023. Last year, they dropped the single Wait So Long (Why Do I Have To).
