Swedish House Mafia Return With New Single Happiness Is So Sad Featuring Lykke Li

Swedish House Mafia have enlisted Lykke Li for a new single, Happiness Is So Sad.
The dance-pop track, the first collaboration between the Swedish music stars, pairs the trio's anthemic electronic production with the singer's introspective, atmospheric vocals. It was recorded in Stockholm, and produced by the electronic supergroup alongside PARISI and Fred Again.., with Max Martin and Oscar Holter earning songwriting credits.
For Lykke Li, the track marks her first new music since her sixth album, 'The Afterparty', was released in May. It also follows her appearance at Coachella in California this April, a headline show at London's KOKO and a performance at the Odeion of Herodes Atticus in Greece. She'll continue her run of summer dates with a set at Way Out West Festival in Sweden on August 14.
For Swedish House Mafia, the release arrives amid their Ushuaïa Ibiza residency, where it has become a summer highlight. Most recently, the group's Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso played Happiness Is So Sad at Tomorrowland festival in Belgium earlier this month.
The trio, completed by Axwell, will play their biggest shows to date at Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium on August 28 and 29. They'll also appear at Portola Festival in San Francisco in September and Head Trip Festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California in October.
They put out their only studio album to date, 'Paradise Again', in 2022, followed by a live edition in 2023. Their most recent release, meanwhile, is the 2025 single Wait So Long (Why Do I Have To).
