T In The Park Festival organisers have this morning announced that Pete Doherty will no longer be performing at this year's event.
The reason given for cancelling Pete's performance is explained in a T In The Park Facebook post which states the singer-songwriter "has entered a facility to deal with pressing medical issues." So rehab. Again.
The T In The Park team posted the following message on the festival's Facebook page, announcing the decision to cancel Pete's appearance:
"We’re sorry to announce that Peter Doherty will not be performing at T in the Park this year. Peter’s team have asked us to share this message with you:
"Peter is terribly upset not to be able to make this year's T in the Park as it is always a great experience and one of his favourite events on the festival circuit. The decision that he couldn't do it was not one taken lightly but the important reasons preventing his attendance this year are clear. Peter has entered a facility to deal with pressing medical issues. We hope you wish him well on this major step he has taken and wish T in the Park as successful an event as ever."
The decision to cancel Pete's performance at the Scottish festival has led to a number of disgruntled music fans voicing their opinion on the the singer. Many comments followed the Facebook post, with some people commenting on the star's heroin addiction - an addiction that has seen Pete plagued by stints in and out of rehab, forcing him to cancel prior tours and performances.
One of the comments read: "He's pulled out of quite a few shows I've paid to see him. Brilliant songwriter and great performer. Stopped bothering with his gigs years ago though. Too unreliable."
While another Facebook post followed: "Real shame, his health should always come first before his career. For anyone who is criticizing him ; what have you done with your life that's s special you think you have the right to judge somebody you have never met?"
