Mercury Prize Playlist Available On Spotify

The gurus at Spotify have created a playlist to celebrate the nominees of the Mercury Prize 2012.

ImageThe 2012 Mercury Prize nominees were unveiled by host Lauren Laverne at The Hospital Club in London's Covent Garden just after 5:30pm (GMT) yesterday, Wednesday 12th September.

The shortlist of 12 ‘Albums of the Year’ is chosen by an independent judging panel and provides a snapshot of the year in music, recognising artistic achievement across a range of music genres.

Jessie Ware - 'Devotion'
Django Django - 'Django Django'
Roller Trio - 'Roller Trio'
Ben Howard - 'Every Kingdom'
Lianne Le Havas - 'Is Your Love Big Enough'
Plan B - 'iLL Manors'
Alt-J - 'An Awesome Wave'
Field Music - 'Plumb'
Micheal Kiwanuka - 'Home Again'
Sam Lee - 'Ground Of It's Own'
Richard Hawley - 'Standing At The Sky's Edge'

The Prize recognises and celebrates music in the UK and has a reputation for highlighting both new talent and more established bands and artists.

The overall winner of the 2012 Prize will be decided and announced at the Barclaycard Mercury Prize Awards Show at the Roundhouse on Thursday 1st November.
