Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Destroys Equipment In Four-Letter Explosion After Set Cut Short

Billie Joe Armstrong had something of a ‘21st Century Breakdown’ at Las Vegas’ iHeartRadio Festival yesterday - after he erupted into a frankly awe-inspiring, f-word heavy rant at producers who cut the band’s slot to 25 minutes from 45 minutes to allow Usher to perform for longer.
Green Day were performing at the festival last night (September 22nd) when producers told him via a television screen at the back of the arena that he and his band only had one minute left of their performance. Incensed, Armstrong put a halt to their performance of 1994 hit ‘Basket Case’ and embarked on an expletive-filled rant - before he and bassist Mike Dirnt started destroying their equipment live onstage.
The scenes were epic, punk-rock, and, in fairness, deserved, as the stunned crowd witnessed their reaction to being sacrificed in favour of singer-songwriter Usher - something which a lot of the crowd seemed to agree on. A video of the incident is currently one of the hottest on YouTube right now, with more than half a million views since it’s upload and hundreds of comments added every few minutes. Shouting down the microphone, Armstrong says: “Fuck this shit. I'm gonna play a fucking new song. Fuck this shit. Give me a fucking break. One minute left. One minute fucking left. You're gonna give me one fucking minute? Look at that fucking sign right there... one minute.”
In true drunken style, he continued: “Let me fucking tell you something, let me tell you something, I've been around since fucking 198-fucking-8. And you're gonna give me one fucking minute? You've gotta be fucking kidding me! You're fucking kidding me. What the fuck! I'm not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers. You've gotta be fucking joking. This is a fucking joke. I got one minute... one minute left. Oh, now I got nothing left. Let me show you what one fucking minute fucking means.”
He then proceeded to trash his guitar, before telling the crowd: “One minute... God fucking love you all. We'll be back.”
While they were only allowed 25 minutes at the iHeartRadio Festival (which also featured Rihanna, Pink, Aerosmith, and more), Green Day will be putting on a massive, full show at the Emirates Stadium in June next year.
