Shed Seven are an English indie rock band from York, consisting of Rick Witter, Paul Banks, Tom Gladwin, Joe Johnson and Alan Leach. A Britpop band, they gained several hits in the 1990s, such as Going for Gold and Getting Better.
Formed in 1990, the band released their debut album, ‘Change Giver’, in 1994, which peaked at #16 in the UK Albums Chart. Their second release, ’A Maximum High’, came out in 1996, and reached #8 in the chart, while ‘Let It Ride’, which was released in 1998, also hit the Top Ten. Their final album, ‘Truth Be Told’, came out in 2001, before their split in 2003. The band returned in 2007 for a greatest hits tour, and announced in 2017 that were returning to the studio to create a new album. In November that year, they released 'Instant Pleasures'.
The band have toured Australia, the US, Canada, Europe and the UK, and are set to play shows this summer at Manchester's Castlefield Bowl as part of Sounds of The City as well as a headline performance at Wychwood Festival in June. There have been some substantial resurrections in 2017, but now it’s the turn of Britpop stalwarts Shed Seven. ‘Instant Pleasures’ is the band’s fifth studio LP, arriving some 16 years after their fourth and a decade after their initial reformation as a touring concern.
