Placebo are an English alternative rock band from London, consisting of founding members frontman Brian Molko and bassist Stefan Olsdal. Best known for singles like Nancy Boy, Pure Morning, You Don’t Care About Us, Every You Every Me, The Bitter End, and Because I Want You.
Formed back in 1994, as Ashtray Heart, after Molko and Olsdal met in London, having both attended the International School of Luxembourg, the band would become Placebo and soon start working on their self-titled debut album. ‘Placebo’ would debut at #5 in the UK Albums Charts and would eventually turn platinum, paving the way for a hugely successful career.
Since then, the band have found fame in the UK and across Europe (as well as in Australia and New Zealand!), and sold over 12million copies of their seven studio albums, all of which have charted inside the UK Top 20, the latest being 2013’s ‘Loud Like Love’.
Placebo have announced a 20th anniversary UK tour for October, with European shows this spring and a one-off show at Manchester's Royal Albert Hall. They've also rescheduled their recently postponed shows in Wolverhampton, Portsmouth and Plymouth. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.

Although the Stadthalle (city hall) in Vienna is not the best location when it comes to sound and acoustics, Placebo was really rocking the crowd. They played old songs like "Twenty years", "For what it's worth", Space Monkey", Meds"; "Bitter end" ect. as well as new songs from the Loud like Love album. Listening to Brian and seeing him live on stage (first row) was a unique and amazing experience I will never forget. I hope to get the chance of seeing them live again soon. It was awesome!
Intense gig. Never seen Placebo perform at such a small venue before. Last time I saw them it was on the main stage at the Reading Festival! Superb show and really enjoyed the setlist. They missed a few of my favourite tracks, such as Pure Morning, but Ill forgive them. They are one of those bands who have had so many hits - you can easily forget just how many they have racked up! Great sound and the atmosphere was buzzing too.
A brilliant charity gig from Placebo. They are fantastic live, very raw sound and intense performance. Bands are always much better seen in the intimate settings of a smaller venue, in my opinion. They gave us a set of new material from their Loud Like Love album as well as most of their old classics. Only complaint is they didn't play Pure Morning nor Without you I'm nothing.
