X Factor boyband One Direction have become embroiled in a war of words with rising indie star Jake Bugg, after he called the group ‘terrible’ in an interview with Shortlist.
Bugg echoed the views of many when asked his opinion on 1D being compared to rockstars, and told the site: “Oh, I’m pretty sure they [Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, who made the initial comparisons] have a good laugh... But it’s easy to, isn’t it? When you don’t have to write any songs. People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don’t mean a thing. I mean, [One Direction] must know that they’re terrible. They must know... Calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it.”
With One Direction keen to lose their pop-y boyband image, the band weren’t happy with the comments, and took to Twitter in an attempt to hit back at Bugg.
