Liam Gallagher Claims Beady Eye's Biggest Rivals Are One Direction

Wednesday, 29 May 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Manchester rock Liam Gallagher has spoken out about world-beating boyband One Direction - claiming that they’re the main rival to his band Beady Eye!

The band release their second album ‘BE’ on June 10th, and ahead of it’s release, Gallagher has revealed who he thinks his and former Oasis bandmates’ biggest rivals are - X Factor group One Direction! Speaking to the BBC, Gallagher said:

“Who's my biggest competition? One Direction. I'm not into their music, [but they’re] mad for it. Fair play to them, man, they got lucky - like we all do, I guess - and they're just going for it. That's what it's all about, innit? It's all going to end at some point. And when it ends, you want to make sure you've ticked all the boxes.”

Interestingly, Beady Eye will be performing on The X Factor in the near future; the show which made One Direction famous - and which Gallagher has previously slated on a number of occasions, describing it as ‘annoying’. Explaining his decision, he’s reasoned that he had to take the opportunity because of the show’s massive audience. He told The Mirror:

“We're doing X Factor, I think it's to be on one of the live shows. I don't care man, we're rock 'n' roll stars and you can't argue that's a huge audience. You have to take that opportunity.”

While you’ll be able to see them on The X Factor sometime soon, you’ll also be able to catch Beady Eye live in concert this summer. Check the dates and details below to find out when - and follow the links to find tickets through Stereoboard.
