Merthyr Rock Festival To Return In 2014

Friday, 28 June 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Merthyr Rock organisers have confirmed that the festival WILL return in 2014. The fantastic news comes just a few months after the they were forced to cancel 2013's event due to overwhelming economic pressures.

The news of the festival's return comes after Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council appointed independent music promoter and Cardiff-based media and events company, Orchard, to stage the event once again at Cyfarthfa Park.

In the past, Merthyr Rock has drawn some of Wales' biggest acts including Kids in Glass Houses and Skindred. Talking about the exciting new takeover, Pablo Janczur, Orchard director, said: “We’re really excited to be working again with Merthyr Tydfil Council on next summer’s Merthyr Rock and will be doing all we can to make it a long-term, sustainable success for local people. As well as our big concert experience, we have great contacts in the rock world, and we’ll be working hard to pull in some big names for 2014.”

Orchard have previously been behind Brecon Jazz Festival and Ponty’s Big Weekend alongside many other concerts in Wales. For further updates on Merthyr Rock 2014, head over to the official website and the festival's official Facebook page.
