PJ Harvey Unveils Brand New Track Shaker Aamer - Listen Here

PJ Harvey has released a brand new track drawing attention to the plight of British resident Shaker Aamer, who is currently being detained at Guatanamo Bay. The new protest song is Harvey's first new material since her 2011 album 'Let England Shake'.
Aamer is the only remaining British resident being detained in the US prison. According to reports, the 46-year-old has not been charged or tried despite being held for over 11 years. In 2007 he was cleared for release and the British government has repeatedly requested that the Aamer, who has a British wife and four British-born children, be sent back to the UK.
Clive Stafford Smith, Aamer's lawyer and director of the prisoners' rights nonprofit organisation Reprieve, said in a statement issued to PJ Harvey's official website:
"We hope that people listen to this song and think about Shaker Aamer’s plight: detained for eleven long years at Guantanamo, without charge or trial – despite having been cleared for release by both Bush and Obama. The UK Government must do everything it can to bring Shaker back home to his wife and kids in London, where he belongs. PJ Harvey has written a wonderful song – I know Shaker will be deeply moved by it – and I only hope that, with the support of the public, he will one day be able to listen to it in freedom."
