Beady Eye Guitarist Gem Archer Hospitalised With 'Severe Head Trauma' - V Festival In Doubt?

Tuesday, 06 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Following yesterday’s news that Beady Eye had pulled out of Belgian and Japanese festival appearances following an injury to guitarist Gem Archer, the band have now released a statement revealing he is suffering from ‘severe head trauma’.

The band cancelled sets at Lokerse Festival in Belgium and Tokyo’s Summer Sonic following the injury, but didn’t disclose what had happened to their bandmate. Now, they’ve revealed that he’s in hospital and in a ‘stable condition’. A statement on Beady Eye's website reads:

“Following an accident on the evening of Thursday August 1st, Beady Eye guitarist Gem Archer was hospitalised with severe head trauma. He is currently in a stable condition but continues to stay in hospital under observation. As previously reported, shows this week in Belgium and Japan have been cancelled.

“His family, friends and bandmates thank everyone who have sent messages of support and well wishes so far and hope to see him back on his feet soon. An update on his condition will follow.”

Though they’ve confirmed that they won’t be performing in Belgium and Japan, the band’s set at V Festival later this month is also currently in doubt. Stay with Stereoboard to keep up-to-date on the story, we’ll let you know more as it surfaces.
