Pink Floyd Drummer Nick Mason Fuels Reunion Speculation

Thursday, 26 September 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Rumours of English psychedelic rockers Pink Floyd getting back together are in full swing - after drummer Nick Mason claimed he was ‘ready to go’ for a reunion.

Pink Floyd are one of the country’s all-time favourite rock bands, and any on the rare occasion they perform together, it’s always an epic sight. They were speculated to be performing at the London 2012 Olympics, but it never materialised, and fans were left disappointed.

But, the rumour mill has been kick started once again after Mason confessed that he was interested and ready for a possible reunion of the remaining members of the classic Pink Floyd line-up - though he did also admit that fans shouldn’t hold their breath.

Speaking to NME, Mason said:

“I would do [a reunion]... I'm ready to go. I'm packed, I have my drum kit, a suitcase and a wash bag by my front door ready for it when I ever get the call. But I'm not holding my breath.”

The sticksman added that it would have to be for ‘good enough reason... an equivalent of Live Aid’, meaning that a one-off show may not be such a wild dream after all. The classic line-up - consisting of Roger Waters, Dave Gilmour, and Mason have only played together twice since 1985: once in 2005, and once in 2011. Unfortunately, Rick Wright passed away in 2008; the most famous line-up played their last gig - a headline appearance at London's Live 8 - which took place in '05.
