Big Boi Dismisses Outkast Album Hopes

Thursday, 20 February 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Big Boi has dismissed rumours that Outkast's recent reunion will be accompanied by a new album.

The rapper, one half of the influential duo alongside Andre 3000, told Revolt TV that their focus was solely on the marathon touring schedule recently unveiled to celebrate 20 years since the release of their debut, ‘Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik’. He said:

No, no, no. We’re just doing the tour only, just for the fans. That’s all it is, just the tour. It's just the Outkast 20th year anniversary, just a way for us to celebrate with our fans, but there’s no album in the works, no."

Outkast will return to the UK as part of their festival spree, playing sets at Bestival and Wireless this summer. Big Boi, meanwhile, also confirmed that he has has been working on solo material for release in the near future.
