Whitney To Support Third Album 'Spark' With Autumn UK Tour, Share Lead Single Real Love

Whitney have announced their third album, along with UK shows for the autumn.

The Chicago duo, comprising Julien Ehlrich and Max Kakacek, will release 'Spark' on September 16 via Secretly Canadian. As a preview, they've dropped the lead single, Real Love, a dreamy, woozy track that comes paired with a video below.

Produced by Brad Cook and John Congleton, the record was penned while the pair quarantined together in Portland for 14 months during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ehlrich commented:

"I was experiencing heightened levels of anxiety and panic, while the entire city was re-emerging from isolation. Iʼve been running away from and self-medicating my anxiety for as long as I can remember, but for whatever reason, it felt like it was time to dive straight into it. During late night sessions over a two-week period, we captured the embrace of anxiety and fear in a way that resonated with us immediately. We spent the next few summer nights driving on Ashland with the windows down and the song turned up. It felt like an emotional and musical burst of light and we're so grateful to finally be sharing that with people."

They'll support the follow-up to 2019's 'Forever Turned Around' with a run of UK and Ireland tour dates in November, which includes a night at London's O2 Academy Brixton. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on June 17. They also have North American dates in the diary. Head here for details.
